Matriculation Vs. Diploma Vs. Form 6 Vs. Foundation Prog.
Matriculation, diploma, Form 6, or other foundation program serves as the preparation for the students particularly in Malaysia to pursue their studies in the higher level, or so-called "Pre-U" program. The program designed are different from few aspects as to suits to different level of student's acceptance, determination, and level of intelligence.
As for matriculation or other foundation program such as the Aus-Mat, A-Level Program, the Asasis, etc are designed for students who's having slightly clearer mind where are they heading towards to, meaning here the courses offered here are more specific as compared to diplomas and form 6 program. Based from the SPM result, students apply for their respective courses example engineering, law, accountancy, etc. In addition, these two programs normally suits for students who have very high level of determination, also can stand academic pressure, long hour learning, continuous classes, and not to say being spoon-fed by the lecturers. The programs highlight more on theories rather than practical actually. The result, students will be highly conceptual rather than technical. Well as for lecturers, (I'm sorry to say this) they are more likely to finish off the syllabus rather than getting the students to really understand about the content of studies. Noted that this is also due to the time constraint as the program took only 1year to accomplish.
On the other hand, the other two program i.e Form 6 and Diplomas, are offered to students who are more flexible in the sense that they are not emphasizing on the theories only, but also practical. It's the place where students can socialize, by organizing events. Plus, where they can build or improve their leadership skills. In addition, the programs are slightly longer that is up to 3 years of accomplishment. They might be less capable in the conceptual thinking but more to building human relations as well as highly technical kind of person. That's why by using diplomas certificate, still, they can apply for the job unlike the matric students. But of course, it's advisable to continue to degree program.
In a nutshell, you have to choose wisely where you are heading towards to. You know yourself better, so think and decide wisely. Your SPM is the access ticket that leads you to enter any of these programs. All the best & Good Luck!
